oPEN CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION for the 25 th Library Association of Republic of Srpska Conference

LIBRARIES AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

Library Association of Republic of Srpska, supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, announces the call for papers for the 25 th Library Association of Republic of Srpska Conference, in Grad Sunca Trebinje, April 24 – 25, 2025.

The topic of the announced event is Libraries and Cultural Heritage Cultural heritage is a collection of authentic artifacts that identifies and determines one nation in the cultural map of the world. Through books, scripts or digitalized original documents that enable cultural heritage its longevity and availability on all meridians, the identity of one nation is preserved. In that sense, libraries are ubiquitous as a cultural, research and educational gate, our reminder or the transmitter of what we are, how we differ from others and in what way our heritage affects our future. Cultural heritage of one nation includes its education attempts through centuries. Intentions to include education into contemporary social trends of its partner is reflected in the collection of intellectual and cultural resources within school libraries. They and everything that affects their quality should be in accordance with law. Every flaw in it must be analyzed carefully as to avoid or eliminate any intentional or accidental oversight, any injustice, or any potential doubt that could affect the contemporary educational mission of a community, whose goal is to shape its users into guardians admirers of what the nation they belong to has inherited since its inception.
To be a guardian and custodian of what is worth learning, and to offer the heritage we preserve to those who learn about it, is the mission of every librarian. How to achieve that successfully and without modern tools, has been shown to us by our predecessors through their own experience. Thanks to them today we have an enormous cultural heritage and immeasurable technological opportunities to preserve our cultural trace for the generations, that will, considering previous experiences, have opportunities that our mind cannot even imagine. Therefore, it is important to respect the role of librarians who are the writers of future stories about us which will be read in future books as cultural heritage and wisdom of centuries. In the hope that you will present to us your own perspective on the offered topics and provide new perspectives on public and school librarianship, the organizers invite authors to submit their participation applications in full text to the following address:
